How to improve a sense of rhythm?

1.  Put on one of your favorite modeate or slow tempo songs.
2. Listen for a moment and focus on predicting exactly when each beat will come in the music.
3. Identify the first beat, which is always the heaviest, as a starting point for your counting.
4. Take small steps in place to the beat, much like a marching band member.
5. Clap your hands once between footfalls.
6. Imitate the rhythms of some songs you know using the step-and-clap system you have just practiced.

What is rhythm?

We know that it's the timing of the notes, but how do the composers write down these timings into a simple format? If you can read music, then you know how this is done. Otherwise, we'll have to teach you about notation. Basically, all musical notes are arranged notes that last for different amounts of time. For example, a quarter note is a common note that is used by composers. Usually, a quarter note will last for a quarter of a measure.

Why is Music Rhythm

Rhythm is just the timing of notes that are played.
Rhythm adds a whole new dimension to music.
Instead of just varying pitches, composers can also vary rhythms!
This creates the uniqueness of each piece and gives each piece it's own character.
The rhythm is the beat.
It is the most important element in music.
It drives the music forward.
It is the gasoline of music.

Rhythms can be simple or complicated
